PD Artist aka Project Dogwaffle

There are many things possible with PD Artist, with filters and special FX and various brushes.

Here's a good recent screenshot

But there are many more even all the way back to the first Artist edition of PD, going back to v3:

PD Artist is a subset of its big brother, PD Howler, which also supports animation oriented features, such as painting with video on video, or animating the effects of many filters. Even the 3D Terrain style filter that takes an image as an elevation map.

You'll see many more images and animations in the PD Howler section on the site. http://thebest3d.com/howler/ .

We are currently developing version 9 which is expected in September. It will include Puppy Ray, our own RayTracer:

We all know what creators can do with animation and 3d characters in movies and such but have you heard how far along the 3D Printing aspect has come. It has ventured from just 3d modelling to making a 3d item that can be used.

London Designer’s Bone-Inspired 3D Printed Pumps

(ShowtimeArts/ChaeminHong) London based footwear designer Chaemin Hong used 3D printing in the design of her A/W 2013-14 collection inspired from animal’s bone. The collection consists of 10 different styles.

Concept
Humankind is at the top of the food chain. The moment that human beings climb up to the top of that pyramid, they act as if they are completed unrelated to the food chain pyramid. Human beings observe the animals in the natural state on TV, and watch the animals’ survival instinct as if they are surprised. Bones of the animals, sources of protein, that were thrown away leave behind animal form. It is not like the animals disappeared: Instead, they were merely dismantled. When the bones re-combine to formulate a new form to create yet another creation, I wonder whether they could instill life into something new instead of merely serving as the remnant of the food chain.

Comic-Con’s 3D Printed Predator Toy with Fan’s Head

(LA TIMES) The alien monster Predator is on the hunt for San Diego Comic-Con attendees.

To mark the 3-D Blu-ray release of the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger-starring “Predator,” Fox is dedicating a jungle-themed booth to the film and its iconic extra-terrestrial. A 3-D printing application will allow "Predator" fans to customize figurines with their own likeness at the film's Comic-Con booth. (20th Century Fox)

“Predator” fans will be able to purchase custom-designed mini-figurines featuring their likeness. Because what fan wouldn’t want to see his or her own decapitated head, spine still attached, being held up by a Predator?

The action figures will be created using photographs of participants (taken at the booth) and 3-D printing. The figurines will be mailed to buyers after the convention. Click through the gallery above for a sneak peek.

Like the Tail of a Seahorse, 3D Printing Artificial Armor

The tail’s exceptional flexibility is due to its structure, made up of bony, armored plates, which slide past each other. Researchers are hoping to use a similar structure to create a flexible robotic arm equipped with muscles made out of polymer, which could be used in medical devices, underwater exploration and unmanned bomb detection and detonation. UC San Diego engineers, led by materials science professors Joanna McKittrick and Marc Meyers, detailed their findings in the March 2013 issue of the journal Acta Biomaterialia.

“The study of natural materials can lead to the creation of new and unique materials and structures inspired by nature that are stronger, tougher, lighter and more flexible,” said McKittrick, a professor of materials science at the Jacobs School of Engineering at UC San Diego.

Are you ready for the next face of Poser?

  • Fitting Room to convert your existing clothing and props to fit any figure*
  • Comic Book Preview Mode for color and B&W cartoon illustration and animation
  • Pixar Subdivision Surfaces for fast and efficient scene building
  • Bullet Physics for Soft Body Dynamics, Rigid Body and Hair
  • Morph Brush now supports Sag, Tighten and Loosen so clothing works better
  • Magnets and Deformers with Weight Maps for the ultimate precision

*Poser Pro 2014 Feature

Poser is perfect for creating 3D character art and animation. For nearly 20 years, artists, hobbyists, illustrators, and animators have been getting creative with Poser. Poser includes over 5GB of 3D figures and content to get you started. Pose figures, add hair and clothing, props, lights and cameras to build 3D scenes. Render photorealistic and cartoon style images and video for web, print, and film.

Pixar Subdivision Surfaces

We've integrated Pixar's OpenSubdiv library to provide Pixar Subdivision Surfaces, with user definable subdivision levels per prop, figure or even individual body part. Subdivision improves bending fidelity, smooths polygonal surfaces and improves performance by enabling lighter poly-count content. Poser includes a new Unimesh skinning method to support subdivision on figures with compliant geometry.

Rendering Speed Improvements

The Firefly render engine has been optimized for faster performance when Raytracing.

New Poser Pro 2014 Only Features

Productivity tools designed for Professional Poser Content Developers

Fitting Room

Interactively fit clothing and props to any Poser figure and create new conforming clothing using five intelligent modes that automatically loosen, tighten, smooth and preserve soft and rigid features. Paint maps on the mesh to control the exact areas that you want to modify. Use pre-fit tools to direct the mesh around the goal figure's shapes. With a single button, generate a new conforming item using the goal figure's rig, complete with full morph transfer

Copy Morphs from Figure to Figure

When creating new content for Poser figures, morph transfer enables conforming clothing developers to easier support a wide array of figures and include both full body and partial body morphs that can be driven by the base figure.

Powerful Parameter Controls

To provide Poser content developers more power, display hidden parameters so they can be interactively modified. Drag and drop parameters to change channel and parameter order calculation for control of how operations such as physics simulations, morphs, bends and deformers interact.
